Jonathan Bousquet

Saxophone, Piano, Clarinet

Jonathan began formal training on saxophone and piano at age nine. As a student at Methuen High School he began studying music theory and piano with Berklee College of Music faculty Ed Saindon along with playing saxophone in school ensembles. Jonathan graduated in 2012 from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with a B.A. in Music Studies where he was a student of Ken Reid (Boston Pops), Dan Lutz and Walter Platt. He has also studied with George Garzone (New England Conservatory/Berklee College of Music) and Charlie Kohlhase (Longy School of Music).

Jonathan has been teaching throughout New England for the last 10 years as a private instructor as well as teaching theory and ensembles every summer at the Umass Lowell Mary Jo Leahy Symphonic Band Camp. Throughout his teaching career he has assisted many students in preparation for district music festival and college entrance auditions. His goal is to help students discover all that music has to offer with a fun and inquisitive approach rooted in clarity of objectives and music fundamentals. With a strong background in Pop, Classical, Jazz, Rock and Blues styles Jonathan can assist any student define their objectives and achieve success. Jonathan’s curriculum includes sight reading, ear training, theory, composition, arranging and Improvisation.

Along with a passion for teaching Jonathan also maintains an active live performance schedule throughout New England as a freelance musician. While also leading his own quartet he is also a current member of Krewe de Groove(New Orleans Funk/Soul), Over The Bridge(Rock) and The Donktet(Funk/Jazz).
