Hayley Thompson-King is a mezzo soprano, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Hayley is best known as the lead singer of American psychedelic rock band Major Stars, as well as her solo project Banditas. Her music has been featured on ABC’s Betrayal, Bravo’s Queer Eye For The Straight Guy and WBUR’s Off The Record. She has released multiple albums and toured nationally, including showcases at South by Southwest, Tweed River Music Festival, Boston’s First Night, Boston Ahts Festival and the Boston Music Awards. She has been nominated by The Boston Music Awards and Boston Phoenix Awards as Best Female Vocalist (2011) and Best Roots/Americana Band (2011/2012).
Hayley holds a Masters of Music from New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor’s of Music from New York University, both in opera performance. As a mezzo-soprano, she has performed with New Repertory Theatre (Into the the Woods), American Repertory Theatre (Carmen), The Lotte Lenya Competition (Finalist), New England Conservatory Opera Theatre (Magic Flute), Riverside Theater, Opera Boston and Ash Lawn Opera Festival.
