Hailed as the “velvet voiced mezzo” by the New Orleans Times Picayunne, Amanda Tarver, is a versatile performer that has a repetoire spanning multiplue genres, from jazz cabarets in the clubs of New Orleans to musical theater, to the opera and concert stages around the world. She has appeared at the Chicago Opera Theater, the Castleton Opera, the Chautauqua Opera, the Neue-Stimmen, the Oak Park Symphony, the LA Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Metropolitan Opera of NYC, just to name a few.
Fall 2012 marked Amanda’s debut on stage at the New York City Metropolitan Opera where she appeared in their greatly acclaimed production of Les Troyens. In Spring 2013 she will perform in the professional ensemble at the Boston Lyric Opera in their productions of Cosi Fan Tutte and The Flying Dutchman.
As a teacher, Amanda draws from her experience and her eclectic musical background. She has taught music instruction for over ten years during which she tailored her instruction for students of all ages with interests in all genres of music.
Amanda received an A.D. in Opera Performance from Boston University, an M.M. in Vocal Performance from Roosevelt University, Chicago, and a B.M. in Voice Performance from Southeastern Louisiana University.
