Steve Lacey began his musical endeavors at the young age of 11, learning first to play the bass then the guitar. He has been performing since the age of 12 with a focus on guitar. For the last 9 years his playing has centered around Jazz, but he also likes to improvise across other genres ranging from Punk to Classical and anything in between.
Steve holds a B.A. in Music from Salem State University and is currently completing an MM in Jazz Studies at City College of New York. In addition to the guitar, he has studied several other instruments. Steve believes you can learn different things from different instruments and help your overall musicianship.
While residing in Gloucester, Steve performs regularly in the Cape Ann and North Shore area. He also teaches students of all ages on a variety of instruments in both private instruction and group settings. His teaching philosophy is rooted in helping students find their own paths and cultivating the skills that fit their individual goals.
