A One Week Guitar Intensive with Frankie Price
Ages 13 & Up
This April, the Marblehead School of Music will be hosting a week-long guitar workshop for intermediate and advanced students. Guitarists will work in a classroom setting with instructor Frankie Price, focusing their studies on a different topic each day.
Learn how to set up and maintain your guitar
- string changes
- intonation
- saddle height
- pickup adjustment
- alternate tunings
Know your gear
- guitar, amplifier, pedal, string, and pickup types
- acoustic vs. electric
Discover new techniques and improve old ones
- Improvisational soloing, picking, strumming
- slide guitar
- chord building
- diatonic/chromatic chords
Approach music theory through the guitar
- analysis of chord and instrumental harmonies
- writing bass lines on guitar
- major and minor scales, modes
- arpeggios
- triads
A detailed syllabus is available upon request.
Class will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Students may opt to bring their own lunch or purchase a $40 lunch ticket for the week to select local restaurants.
